激活锁功能为伴随着iOS 7系统更新推出的一个安全功能。当用户启用“Fine My iPhone”功能的时候，激活锁也会自动启动。确保在没有原绑定iCloud账户信息的情况下，其他人无法解锁手上的iOS设备，也就是俗称的“变砖”。在推出该功能后，不少美国警方都表示，该功能对于减低苹果设备盗窃率有明显帮助。

随后，苹果也推出了“检查激活锁状态”工具，这项功能对需要购买二手iOS设备的用户尤其实用。因为通过该功能，潜在买家可在正式交款前，通过输入设备的IMEI或是序列号，就可以查询对应设备是否处于被“激活锁”锁定状态。而最近，苹果则悄然地将该功能下架了。

据猜测，本次苹果这次下架是出自安全性考虑。在2016年末，不少购买了新设备的用户在首次开机时，都发现自己的新手机看起来已经被别人的Apple ID锁定了，无法正常进行启动，只可退回给苹果公司处理。

而这次被下架的功能，有可能是以上问题的成因。在 MacRumors 提供的视频中，通过拆解被锁定的iOS设备，操作人员通过原已被锁定的序列号，任意修改其中1-2个数位，并通过原有的“检查激活锁状态”工具对猜测出来的序列号有效性进行验证。

在确保新序列码未被锁定的情况下，操作人员将新序列号写在原被锁定的设备上，重新开机后则可顺利跳过原有锁定界面。于是设备就顺利被“解锁”了。而被“盗用”的序列号则有可能是那些新购置用户的设备号。

截止发稿为止，苹果公司暂未对该功能下架与以上漏洞之间的关系进行正式声明，同时，也没对将何时恢复已经下架的“检查激活锁状态”工具进行表态。

虽然“检查激活锁状态”功能是下架了，但用户如果遇到手机被盗或丢失的情况，还是可以通过iCloud的“查找我的iPhone”对设备开启“丢失模式”或是“抹掉”进行保护。
