好莱坞有个段子，说当有渴望成功的新编剧询问编剧奥秘时，让他去读爱泼斯坦就好。――换个角度说，想要成为专业观众，应该读爱泼斯坦的书单。

亚历克斯・爱泼斯坦有长达十年的剧本策划和开发经验。他从耶鲁大学毕业后，曾在三家独立制片公司担任过副总裁，负责组织剧本写作、聘用编剧并同所有大制片厂和经纪公司合作开发和包装项目。在最近出版的《编剧的策略：如何打动好莱坞》一书中，他用一个小节介绍了编剧的必读书。在这个“总是缺一个好故事”的时代，这份书单除了能告诉我们怎样讲好故事，多少也能告诉我们，怎样正确而专业地吐槽一部又一部烂片。

对于一些你从来没想到的问题，书本都会帮你给出答案。

你不需要读很多不同类型的剧本写作指南。如果你在一年之内读了两本以上的剧作指南，那么你就是在有意拖延真正的剧本写作。放下书，开始写剧本吧。我认为最有用的书本，是关于电影其他方面的：比如导演、剪辑、表演还有制作方面的。

很多书可能在当地的图书馆就有，你也可以买下这些书。我们这些作家最喜欢你们买书了。

导演

你是在一张纸上导演着一部电影，他们则是在银幕上导演电影。导演们最喜欢在自传中讲述一些与人斗法的故事，但是时不时的，他们在导演上的小把戏会暴露出来。很多这类书籍也会让你跃跃欲试，想要参与到电影事业中去，甚至让你很想要立马放下书本，开始写剧本，这可是一件好事。

英格玛・伯格曼：《魔灯》（Ingmar Bergman，The Magic Lantern）。

西德尼・吕美特：《拍电影》（Sidney Lumet，Making Movies，即将由后浪出版）。导演在书中解释自己创作时的用意，很少有导演会这么做的。

大卫・马梅：《导演功课》（David Mamet，On Directing Film）。马梅在电影方面有着自己独特的视点。不，我认为他是满嘴胡说，但任何新视角都是好的。

肯・拉塞尔：《变身博士》（Ken Russel，Altered States）。讲的都是人与人斗争的故事，但是非常好玩。

威廉・戈德曼：《这谎话，我该讲那个好呢？》（Which Lie Did I Tell？）。尽管本书把自己伪装成一部关于编剧从业经验的书，但是它包含了很多有用的关于写作过程的深刻见解。尤其是，他为这本书特意写了半个剧本，然后让六个一线剧作家（卡利・科瑞[Callie Khouri]，约翰・帕特里克・尚利[John Patrick Shanley]等）来设计下半部分的故事。对那种认为每种写作困境只有一个最佳解决方案的观念，这是一剂解药。光是这一部分内容就可以让这本书物有所值了。

两本你也许从未想过会有用的有意思的书
