在接下来的一年里，微软将把Microsoft Edge技术变革的重点聚焦于以下三个方面。

一、微软将在桌面上迁移到适用于Microsoft Edge的兼容Chromium的Web平台，微软的目标是将Microsoft Edge平台与Web标准同其他基于Chromium的浏览器保持一致。

二、Microsoft Edge将面向所有受支持的Windows版本推出，同时，Microsoft Edge将脱离与系统更新同步的绑定而单独更新，以实现更高敏捷的交付。此外，微软还希望这项工作能够使他们将Microsoft Edge浏览器带到其他平台，例如苹果的macOS上。

三、微软将在采用Chromium的技术开发的Microsoft Edge浏览器上提供增强功能，以加强用户体验。

虽然在这几天之前，曾有消息表明微软正在开发另外一款基于Chromium内核的浏览器，不过没想到微软官方竟然这么快就坐实了“微软的浏览器将采用Chromium的技术开发”这个消息，还是比较令人震惊的。而且，还有一点出人意料的是，采用Chromium的技术开发的浏览器直接就是Microsoft Edge，而根本不像此前所传的“另一款浏览器”。

从Windows 10的早期版本一路用到现在的读者可能知道，从google.com在其首页推荐用户使用Chrome浏览器，到Windows 10在通知中心提醒用户使用更省电的Edge浏览器，这些年，Microsoft Edge浏览器和Chrome浏览器之间的较量从未停止过。这次Microsoft Edge浏览器宣布采用Chromium技术，就像微软和谷歌两个人在掐架，正当两个人正势均力敌，僵持不下的时候，微软突然亲了谷歌一口，这两家之间多年的浏览器之争也因此次微软和谷歌的握手言和而落幕。

所以，这次，Edge是在与Chrome之间的较量当中认输了吗？

Internet Explorer 6，前端工程师的噩梦

如果正在看文章的各位当中有做过前端工程师的，那提到Internet Explorer 6，应该是相当的咬牙切齿，有些读者可能很难理解这件事情，为什么Internet Explorer 6让前端工程师如此痛恨？

简而言之，导致Internet Explorer 6让前端痛恨的原因有二：

一、Internet Explorer 6是和Windows XP同时诞生的浏览器，也是Windows XP这款经典系统的默认浏览器。尽管这款浏览器在诞生之初还算先进，可是随着时间的推移，它已经辉煌不再，微软也早已停止对它的支持。

中国市场是个非常神奇的市场，就算微软后续的Internet Explorer 7、8、9等新版浏览器陆续推出，Internet Explorer 6的份额还是不可忽视，有段时间其在中国市场的份额甚至达到20%。考虑到如此大的市场份额，开发者不得不在设计网站前端的时候“单独照顾”已经被时代淘汰了的Internet Explorer 6，非常麻烦。

二、Internet Explorer 6所采用的网页标准非常奇葩，完全不按W3C（W3C，即万维网联盟，是Web技术领域最具权威和影响力的国际中立性技术标准机构，广为业界采用的超文本标记语言的标准制定即是由该组织主导的）的套路出牌，也就是说，如果你是个前端工程师，你遵照W3C的标准写了一个在市面上绝大部分的浏览器上都能完美排版的网页，可是当你用Internet Explorer 6打开它时，你很可能会发现，这个网页的页面排版已经乱成一锅粥，有些脾气好的开发者考虑到Internet Explorer 6的市场份额可能还会适配一下，若遇到暴脾气的，直接给你写个条件语句，判断到用户使用的浏览器是Internet Explorer 6，直接就拒绝显示网页，然后提示你用其他的正常一点的浏览器了。

通过举Internet Explorer 6的这个例子，是希望大家理解这个道理，浏览器间所采用的标准的统一，无论是对网站的前端设计师来说，还是对我们这样的普通用户来说，都是一件相当重要的事情。

Microsoft Edge的优与劣

其实Internet Explorer浏览器发展到10或者11的时候，其对网页标准的支持，尤其是对HTML5的支持已经相当不错了，随Windows 8以及后来的Windows 8.1同时推出的Internet Explorer 10触屏版和Internet Explorer 11触屏版则让这款浏览器无论是看起来还是用起来都显得更加现代。就站搜网 Win10 频道小编的经历来说，当年在Windows 8.1当中使用其内置的Internet Explorer 11的时候已经基本上感受不到任何不适或者不便了。

考虑到Internet Explorer的包袱过于沉重，改造这款浏览器对微软来讲已经不是一个好主意了，要拥抱现代浏览器，微软只能下个破釜沉舟的决心，轻装上阵，重新开始，于是，一个代号为“斯巴达“的现代浏览器项目诞生了，这个项目所衍生的产品，就是后来我们在Windows 10上所用到的默认浏览器Microsoft Edge。

和历史包袱沉重的Internet Explorer相比，全新的Microsoft Edge有着诸多的优势。

第一、它可以提供相对于Internet Explorer来说更加精简、更加快速，也更加让人耳目一新的浏览体验。

由于Edge这款全新的现代浏览器不需要考虑向后的兼容性，因此它的代码量大大减少，据站搜网 Win10 频道了解，在Edge浏览器上，微软砍掉了22万行MSHTML代码、300多个API以及6种文件模式。

轻装上阵的结果，自然就是一个字，快。在JetStream的基准测试中，Edge取得了比Internet Explorer 11快1.6倍的成绩，在Octane 2.0的基准测试中，Edge取得了比Internet Explorer 11快2.25倍的成绩，在64位浏览器中，Edge浏览器的JavaScript引擎加载速度更是超越了它的两大竞争对手Chrome和Firefox。

为了改善Edge浏览器随新的Web标准的优化，微软为此新增了30万行程序代码、49项主要的新功能以及4200多个相容的修补程序。

第二、它支持基于HTML和JavaScript的扩展，用户只需通过Windows应用商店（后更名为“微软商店“）即可一站式安装与Edge浏览器相兼容的扩展应用。对于开发者来讲，Edge扩展插件的开发十分简单，他们仅需将他们为Chrome或者Firefox等浏览器所写的扩展程序的代码稍加改动，即可将其移植到微软的Edge浏览器上来。

第三、Edge浏览器拥有更贴心、更实用的功能。微软搜索服务必应以及Windows 10上的虚拟个人助理Cortana已于Edge浏览器深度整合，Cortana在Edge当中能够判断你的需求并为你提供它能给到的一切。全新的阅读模式能够去掉网页左右两边的文字菜单、广告等分散阅读注意力的元素，从而提供更沉浸纯粹的阅读体验。阅读列表功能则可将当前网页添加到列表中以供后续阅读，与此同时，该功能还支持将阅读列表在用户的各设备间同步。

尽管微软倾力打造的Edge浏览器正如上述这样，拥有种种能够使其成功的特质，可是截至目前，它的市场表现还是没有太大的起色，很多用户在安装还Windows 10之后，也只是把Edge浏览器当成新时代的Internet Explorer 11来用而已——即用它来下载Chrome。

Edge浏览器到底有何劣势，以至于尽管它已经问世三年多，还是难以成功呢？

有些读者可能会担心，如果微软采用别人家的内核来开发自己家的浏览器，那他的EdgeHTML怎么办？这样的话，微软在网页标准方面的话语权不就减弱了吗？

脱离与Windows 10的更新绑定，即意味着Microsoft Edge可以实现更敏捷的交付周期，因此，Microsoft Edge的功能增强或者Bug修复可以更及时地推送给用户，过去Microsoft Edge的市场份额不高，相信是由很多用户用它的时候发现一些问题，而这些问题又迟迟得不到解决，从而转投其他浏览器所导致的。在更敏捷的交付周期下，考虑到用户流失的原因，上面我们提到的这个问题显然是可以迎刃而解的。

提问三，我可以在更多的平台使用Microsoft Edge吗？

从微软的博客来看，这个问题的答案是肯定的。微软的那篇博客所传达出的关于Edge浏览器目标平台的信息有两点。

1、Edge浏览器将适用于所有受支持的Windows版本。既然微软没限定范围是“所有受支持的Windows 10版本”，那我们有理由相信微软口中的“所有受支持的Windows版本”是包含Windows 7和Windows 8.1在内的。考虑到这两个版本的Windows不支持UWP应用，因此，从中我们可以解读出的信息是，Edge浏览器或许会去UWP化，从而成为一款Win32桌面应用。

2、微软有意愿将Edge浏览器带到macOS平台。考虑到macOS在桌面电脑和笔记本电脑中有限的市场份额，Edge浏览器借助登录macOS所能实现的份额增长应该是相当有限的，不过比便如此，这依然传达出一个信息，即微软将以越来越开放的姿态来拥抱“竞争对手”的平台。

从Microsoft Edge的种种变化以及这些变化所意味着的结果来看，微软此次的动作并不是一次“认输“的动作，相反，Edge是个赢家。

是的，在刚刚过去的浏览器大战中，Edge并没有打败谷歌的Chrome，但有些时候，一方的胜利并不一定要以另一方的失败为标志。这次浏览器大战没有输家，微软与谷歌所共同迎来的是个皆大欢喜的圆满结局。

虽然与谷歌的浏览器大战的结局是美好的，可是微软需要知道，Microsoft Edge依然面临挑战。
