苹果地图还曾经干过这些乌龙事，比如误将用户引导到机场跑道上，以至于机场曾经被迫封闭了一条通往飞机场的公路；苹果地图甚至把都柏林机场搬了家，苹果地图上标示的机场位置，和实际地点相差了 17 公里；曾有好几个澳洲驾驶人要前往维多利亚省的米尔杜拉，却被苹果地图带到一座国家公园，由于许多错误实在太离谱，澳洲警方甚至曾经公开宣告苹果地图软件有可能危及驾驶人性命。

苹果地图逆袭 Google Maps

说到地图应用，就全球用户来说，很多人首先想到的是谷歌地图，我们也没有想到，有一天，苹果地图能够实现逆袭，在 iOS 设备上的安装使用量是谷歌地图的 3 倍。

据 The Boston Globe 报告称，在 iPhone 和 iPad 设备上苹果地图的使用率是竞争对手(谷歌地图)的三倍，苹果地图每周处理 50 亿次地图相关的查询。这是一个可喜的成绩。

当然，由于谷歌地图同时支持 iOS 和 Android 系统，因此，在美国其用户量仍稳居第一。但是，能够在 iOS 平台上超过谷歌地图，这已经是一件很了不起的事情。

曾经担任 Google 地图经理、目前在地图应用程式 Moovit 任职的麦肯吉托瑞斯说：“他们确实在短期间内进步了很多，苹果具有一般公司少有的特长，能在简单的设计中融入务实的效用。”

有分析称，苹果地图能够比谷歌地图更受欢迎，这是因为苹果地图是主屏上易于访问的应用，毫不意外地吸引到了更多的人来使用。毕竟智能机有预装软件的时候，总比用户需要打开应用商店去下载来的方便。很多人所以使用苹果地图，纯粹是因为用的是 iPhone 手机；就算用户下载其它地图程式，iPhone 上的 Siri 或 Mail 服务还是会导回苹果地图。

但是，你有没有想过，苹果地图比谷歌地图受欢迎，除了是因为 iOS 设备是它的主战场之外，还和它的进步有莫大关系。如果苹果地图体验不好的话，用户宁可麻烦一下去下载 Google Maps。

另外，苹果地图迅速转败为胜也说明，苹果有能力引导用户接纳自己提供的服务。

苹果地图如何一步步逆袭

首先当然就是修复错误。苹果地图的修正工作从 2012 年开始，首先被用户发现的就是纽约市地区，自由女神的 3D 图像有了很大的改善。另外纽约市和伦敦出现了全新的 3D 建筑物。

时至今日，苹果地图也在不停的修正错误。据了解，苹果地图每天都会检查信息，每周都会修复一些小问题。从去年 4 月份开始，苹果开始向用户推送通知信息，提示他们递交的问题已经被修正。现在，有很多用户注意到，苹果地图景点数据的载入明显提升。

另外，苹果还新增了多家提供 POI 信息点（point-of-interest，含名称、类别、经度、纬度、附近的酒店、饭店、商铺等信息）数据的公司，包括 DAC Group、Location3 Media、Marquette Group、Placeable、PositionTech、SIM Partners、SinglePlatform、UBL、Yext 以及 Yodle，连同原先的 Yelp、Factual 以及 Neustar/Localeze，将向用户提供更加准确的 POI 数据。

招聘人才。人才是企业最宝贵的财富，为了让苹果地图发展得更好，苹果一直都在招聘最优秀的人才。到今年 5 月份，苹果还在招贤纳士。

今年 4 月份，苹果为 Maps 部门的“路线规划”（Routing）团队招募一名软件工程师。

招聘启事中写道：“作为路线规划团队中的一员，你将参与开发 Apple Maps 的其中一项最受期待的功能。”在素质要求上，公司直接要求求职者必须非常熟悉公共交通系统，既有使用该系统的经验，也要从技术层面上了解该系统。

接下来是今年 5 月份，苹果的一份招聘信息显示，苹果正在为地图数据服务团队寻找一位高级软件工程师，这位工程师最好能有在大规模分布式系统的开发经验并且掌握了 Java、Scala、Kafka、Zookeeper 等技术技能。

苹果在招聘信息中写道：“我们有重大的计划，（为此）我们正在寻找能够设计、构建出干净、可扩展、高效数据服务的工程师和领袖人物，同时他还能协助追踪、监控、调试数据，因为它们需要通过一个复杂的通道进行运转。”

此前，苹果还招聘了数名经验丰富的地图 POI（兴趣点）数据库管理工程师；苹果曾经在一则招聘中表示了对“路面实况”管理人员的渴求，当时的职位遍布在美洲、西欧、日本、亚太地区、东欧、中东以及非洲等地区。

除了地图 POI 和路面实况之外，苹果也曾对 iOS 的定位分析下过一番苦功，苹果曾经公开表示希望得到可以开发、测试并确定混合定位运算法则的专业人才，以此来打造相应的设备服务于所有的 iOS 用户。

收购公司。三年以来，苹果收购了许多地图初创公司，直接将这些公司的研发成果应用在苹果地图上，这是一种比较快捷的获得成功的办法。通过技术收购取得成功，善于利用别人的研发成果，这是苹果一直在做的事情。就好比，我们解一道数学题，我们直接利用数学家证明过的公式来计算即可。

被苹果收购的地图初创公司有：

Broadmap，它主要致力于地图数据的管理和分析，为大型以及中小型企业提供服务。

HopStop，一家在线交通导航服务公司，苹果用 10 亿美元收购它以提升自己的地图工具软件水平。

Locationary，原本是一家众包地理位置数据库初创公司，Locationary 相当于是本地商家列表的维基百科，它借助众包的力量，鼓励用户贡献数据。

EMBArk，一家硅谷免费公共交通应用开发商，目的是为智能手机用户提供公共交通导航服务。

Placebase，一家研发地理、地图信息系统的地图公司。

WifiSlam，室内导航公司，致力于研发更准确的室内导航定位技术。

Mapsense，旧金山地图数据分析和可视化创业公司，主营业务是建立用来分析、可视化位置数据的工具。

Coherent Navigation，专注于开发高精度 GPS 硬件和软件。

除了以上这些之外，还有其他较为小型的地图公司被苹果收入囊中。苹果曾经表示会不定期收购小型科技公司，一般不会讨论收购的目的和计划。

公共交通服务。这是苹果地图的很大进步。以往，每次打开其他地图应用的时候，很多用户都希望能通过该地图查到自己出行的公共交通路线规划，而苹果地图缺失了这一功能。到 iOS 9，用户多年的愿望终于达成。

在新版 iOS 9 中，苹果针对公共交通为地图加入 Transit 功能。可以让用户使用公交、火车、地铁、轮渡等公共交通工具的导航。甚至包括了进站和出站口，可以轻松找到进出车站的捷径。解决了用户较为迫切的需要。

Transit 功能将在全球众多城市适用。在中国，Transit 方式将适用于北京、上海、深圳等超过 300 个城市。

此外，新版 iOS 地图功能还可以帮助用户搜索附近的餐厅、酒吧、购物中心，以及各种正在举办的活动。

苹果地图能逆袭到 Android 平台上吗？

也许有人会说，首先，你得先有 Android 版苹果地图。虽然苹果的应用很少会跨平台支持，但并不代表没有这样的可能性。今年，苹果为 Android 平台发布了两款应用，第一款是 Move to iOS；第二款就是 Apple Music。也许未来，苹果还会发布更多 Android 版 iOS 应用。

假设有 Android 版苹果地图，我们认为，它也很难能够在 Android 领域获得和 iOS 平台上一样的成功。主要原因自然是谷歌地图更加成熟、便利，而且用户习惯使用谷歌地图。另外，从苹果之前推出的两款 Android 应用来看，反响不太好，move to iOS 差评如潮，Apple Music 收到的反馈也不如人意。
