谷歌联合创始人拉里・佩奇（Larry Page）表示，Alphabet 是一家更纯粹的控股公司，更明了、更负责了，而他和谢尔盖・布林（Sergey Brin）则将出任新公司总裁一职。

原谷歌旗下的子公司和项目架构也发生了一系列变化，包括 Nest、Fiber、Calico 和总是很神秘的 Google X，将分拆成独立子公司，并与谷歌一起组成 Alphabet 集团。

谷歌联合创始人为什么做出这种改变？

谷歌现在是 Alphabet 的一个子公司，或许称之为新谷歌更为合适，因为它是当今最大的新品牌之一。说实话，这是一个非常突然的变化，很多细节对我们大家来说相当迷惑，包括整个高科技领域也感到惊讶，不过谷歌的联合创始人拉里・佩奇自己道出了其中的原因。

“谢尔盖和我都在认真考虑新的业务，其实从一开始，我们就努力用已有的资源做更多事情、做重要的事情以及有意义的事情。”拉里・佩奇认为，科技行业必须迎来革命，不落伍就必须有点不甘于慵懒的精神。

“我们一直认为，随着时间的推移，企业通常会舒服地做同样的事情，导致只有一些增修修补补的量的变化。但在高科技行业，革命的思想政治驱动下一个高增长领域的到来，你需要不满足于舒服方可长存。”

很早之前，拉里・佩奇曾表示，自己已经厌倦了每天追逐广告收入的工作，希望能退后一步，专注制定更大的公司蓝图。如今 Alphabet 的成立增强了企业的经营规模，集团旗下的公司将独立运作。

Alphabet 未来会比谷歌更好？

架构重组听起来有点无聊，而且也没有新干货公布不是吗？但其实你可以从 Alphabet 的构成去了解拉里・佩奇和谢尔盖・布林的下一步想要做些什么。

众所周知，现在 Alphabet 集团旗下的谷歌公司的搜索引擎和移动操作系统业务已经相当成熟。但很显然，通过 Alphabet 原本臃肿的谷歌将能够把主要业务与未来长期投资项目区分开来，从根本上让管理更精细，最重要的是能更好地继续维持好包括这两项业务在内的传统支柱业务的运营。

而两位联合创始人拉里・佩奇和谢尔盖・布林，将担任更具决策性的角色，实现推动更多疯狂的想法或者不大可能实现的项目，将更多激进的解决方案和突破性的技术提升到与 Google Search 和 Android 同样的水平高度。

原属于谷歌的其他公司呢？

拉里・佩奇明确，一些与主营互联网产品不是非常相关的业务，将会划到 Alphabet 中的其他独立的公司中。包括：

Calico，之前从谷歌独立出来的研究机构，将专注于解决衰老等医疗保健行业上的问题，承担运用科技攻坚年龄限制和延长人类寿命的使命，帮助人类寻找青春的源泉。

Life Sciences，将继续负责生命科学项目，比如此前提过的可以监测和感知血糖水平的隐形眼镜。

Fiber 也将从谷歌岔开出来单独管理，负责超高速千兆光纤业务，并推动有线电视以更合理的价格走进家庭。

Nest Labs，这家谷歌去年以 32 亿美元高价收购的公司，将由托尼・法戴尔（Tony Fadell）掌管，专注于恒温器、烟雾警报器和安全摄像头等业务的扩展，并为家庭物联网设备领域创造更多更具凝聚力的智能家居产品、

Google X，原谷歌旗下最著名、最神秘的实验室，如今独立出来仍将继续负责最机密的项目投资和开发，并且不再由谷歌负责。这意味着，过去一直负责的自动驾驶汽车技术、无人驾驶飞机技术、互联网热气球项目和 Google Glass 眼镜项目正越来越接近现实。

至于Google Ventures 和 Google Capital，则分别负责早期风险基金和投资基金等财务状况。

Alphabet 出现之后谷歌怎么办？

Alphabet 的出现并不意味着谷歌消失，只是之前很多谷歌旗下令人兴奋的未来项目不再与之相关。但谷歌还是我们大多所熟悉的谷歌，旗下业务将包括了 Search 谷歌搜索服务、Android 系统、Chrome 浏览器、YouTube 和 Maps 地图服务，新业务 Google Photos 和 Google Now 同样从属于谷歌公司。

谷歌公司将会由原来 Chrome OS、Android 的负责人桑达尔・皮查伊（Sundar Pichai ）掌舵，成为谷歌的新任 CEO，实际上他以谷歌高级副总裁的身份出现在 Google I/O 大会上时，对于这个结果没有任何惊喜，他是第三任谷歌 CEO，从去年 10 月份接管了所有产品有关的领导工作。只不过，YouTube 长期以来拥有自己的 CEO Susan Wojcicki（苏珊・沃西基）。

“桑达尔・皮查伊从去年 10 月份就已经开始负责诸多谷歌的互联网业务的产品与开发，他的尽心尽力非常让人激动。现在很明显是时候让他来出任谷歌的首席执行官了，这样一位天才负责谷歌是我的荣幸。他总是注重开创新，不断拓展新领域。”拉里・佩奇说。

“我知道他极其在意我们能否在组织世界信息这个核心使命上继续取得重大进展。类似 Google Photos、Google Now 这些利用机器学习的新产品就是令人叹服的成绩。同时，苏珊的 YouTube CEO做得很不错，发展出了一个强大的品牌，而且取得了不可思议的增长。”

换句话说，精简之后的谷歌，如今更易于运营和扩展项目，并且将会取得更大的进展。

人们能习惯 Alphabet 这个名字吗？

Alphabet 意为字母表，当你习惯了“Google 谷歌”的说法之后，新的名词总是会让你觉得非常不和谐。“别担心，我们也还在习惯这个名字！”其实拉里・佩奇在公开信中表达的结论和大多数人相同。

关于为何选择 Alphabet 这个名字，拉里・佩奇表示这是因为“字母”是人类最重要的创新之一，也是谷歌搜索服务进行索引的核心方式。不过，Alphabet 可以拆开来看，也就是“Alpha-bet”，其中 Alpha 代表了高于标准的投资回报，而这正是未来整个集团努力的目标。

说实话，Alphabet 只是让各个原本集成于谷歌的项目独立运作，以及发展自己的品牌，就目前而言该名称对于我们普通用户并不那么重要，你平时仍然可以称呼其中一个品牌名称，比如说，搜索服务你仍可以称呼“谷歌搜索”，或者说新的 Nexus 6 手机，你依然可以称为“Google Nexus 6”，而不是“Alphabet Nexus 6”手机。

不过，Alphabet 是一个大集团，涉及到太多重点的未来项目，所以未来可能还是需要一定的时间来适应新的命名规格规则，尤其是原本谷歌已扩展到其他领域的业务命名。

Alphabet 现在就成立了？

当然，原谷歌并没有在一夜之间立即变成了 Alphabet，拉里・佩奇也明确今年晚些时候才会正式代替原谷歌，现在的谷歌还是大家认识的谷歌，而且整个集团 90% 的收入来自谷歌。另外，Alphabet 新上线了一个独特的域名 abc.xyz。
